General information
Water eyes, headaches, chronic coughing and other symptoms can indicate the presence of an allergen or volatile chemical exposures. Sometimes many occupants in a space are affected while sometimes just one individual is reacting. Identifying the cause of the symptoms requires a physical assessment combined with allergen and chemical testing. A report of our findings and recommendations to address identified allergen and chemical sources is provided.
Our Services
Allergen Sampling
A physical assessment can often identify issues with mice, mold, and/or cockroaches, which are common indoor allergens. During our assessment, we collect surface and air samples that are analyzed using a microscope on-site by a trained microscopist. Samples area analyzed for the presence of fungal growth, dust mites, and abnormal particles. Dust samples can also be collected for analyses by a partnering laboratory for the presence of allergens from dogs, cats, dust mites, mice, and cockroaches.
Chemical Testing
During our physical assessment, we screen the building using a photo-ionization detector (PID). This device can instantly measure most, but not all volatile chemicals. The device provides a single concentration of all measurable volatile chemicals, but does not identify which chemicals are present. Using the PID we can track the source of volatile chemicals. If needed, air samples can be collected for analysis by a partnering laboratory to identify the concentrations of individual chemicals or for chemicals not detected using a PID.
